Church: speakers and topics

St. John's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Stuart Dunnan, headmaster at Saint James School, will be guest speaker Sunday at 8 and 10:15 a.m. The parish choir will provide music at the later service. Sunday school classes will resume next Sunday.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Pastor Quentin Fleming will speak Sunday at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. on "The Everlasting Light." Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Pastor Torben Aarsand is celebrant Sunday at the 8:30 a.m. praise worship and 10:45 a.m. evangelical worship service. Tony Howell is lay assisting minister.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, Pastor Mark Mooney will speak Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on "A New Beginning," which features the Wesleyan Covenant communion service. Mooney and his puppet friends also will highlight the morning service. Sunday school is at 10:45 a.m.

First Christian Church, Senior Minister Fred Harris will speak Sunday at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. on "Gold, Circumstance and Mud." A men's trio and the chancel choir will provide special music. Sunday school is at 11:15 a.m.

First Baptist Church, 15 High St., Hagerstown, Pastor Thom Smith will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Remember ... Repent ... Return to Your First Love." Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, the Rev. Robert Jones will speak Sunday at 10 a.m. on "Faithful Faith for the New Year." Bible study is at 9 a.m. Royal Rangers and girls' ministries' topic at 6 p.m. is "An Experience that Talks." Wednesday Oasis service with NuVision Youth is at 7 p.m. Victorious Christian service study begins.

Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Al Clipp will speak Sunday at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. on "The Inside Story." Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Grace Brethren Church, 250 Philadelphia Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., the topic Sunday at 10:40 a.m. is "Explosion of Light." Christian education is at 9:30 a.m. The topic at 6 p.m. is "The Letter to the Church of Dardis." Grace Teens is at 7 p.m. Wednesday prayer and Bible study are at 1 p.m. and a gathering is at 6:06 p.m.

A Cry in the Wilderness Ministries will hold services Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Steve's Studio, 13194 Monterrey Lane, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. The Rev. Steve Burdette's topic is "God's Holy Force Is With Us."

Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 14615 Fairview Church Road, Clear Spring, Pastor Allen Reed will speak Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on "The Word." There will be a children's sermon.

Zion United Church of Christ, the Rev. Gerald C. Hanberry will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Gift of Comfort: Forgiveness, Presence and Love." A litany of ordination and installation of deacons and elders will be conducted. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m.

Calvary Grace Brethren Church, Pastor Roger Wambold of Hewbrew Christian Fellowship will speak Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on "What's Happening in Israel?" He also will speak at 9:15 a.m. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday Bible study is at 10 a.m. Wednesday youth programs are at 6:30 p.m.

Christ Reformed Church, 304 E. German St., Shepherdstown, W.Va., Ronald Grubb will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Looking to the Little Drummer Boy As a Gift Consultant."

Welty Church of the Brethren, Greensburg, Pastor Mike Manthos will speak Sunday at 10:45 a.m. on "Title Vessels for the Lord." Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Sharpsburg, Pastor Delancy Catlett will speak Sunday at 9 a.m. on "Another Road."

Mount Vernon Reformed UCC, Keedysville, Pastor Delancy Catlett will speak Sunday at 10:45 a.m. on "Another Road."

Church of the Holy Trinity UCC, Halfway, the Rev. Tim Leighton will speak Sunday at 10:45 a.m. on "Searching For the Light." Fellowship and refreshments follow the service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Tri-State Fellowship, Lead Pastor Randy Buchman will speak Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. caf service and the 11 a.m. bridge service on "The Authentic Christian Life - Are You the Real McCoy?" Full morning children's and student programs are offered. Youth groups for high school and middle school are from 6 to 8 p.m.

New Beginning Community Church, corner of Dual Highway and Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, Pastor Mark Snyder will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. on "Theme 09 - The Invitation." Music will be provided by LeAnne Snyder. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. A series on the Book of Romans is Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Sunday, the Rev. Randy Reid will speak Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on "Wanted: Wise Men for Wacky Moments." Church school is at 10:45 a.m.

Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, Md., Pastor Donna Ritchey Martin will speak Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on "My Two Cents for Hunter." Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Bread and cup communion will be served.
