ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Raason Young scored 28 points and Amaurys Fermin added 18 to lead Hagerstown Community College, but the Hawks couldn't hold a six-point halftime lead in their first Maryland JuCo loss this season.

Jeremy Myers had 13 points, while Jordan Brooks and K'yan Andrews added 10 apiece for HCC (11-3, 5-1).

Montgomery-Rockville improved to 7-6, 3-3.

Spierenburg named tourney MVP

Gettysburg senior forward and St. Maria Goretti graduate Joe Spierenburg was named MVP of the Albright College Tournament.

Spierenburg scored seven points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in Gettysburg's 62-60 win over Albright in the tournament final Saturday.

Preseason baseball program

The 2009 Diamonds Winter Workout is a five-week program, held on Sundays starting Jan. 18 and running until Feb. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. each day at the St. James School gymnasium. This program is offered for boys and girls ages 7-18. The Diamonds Winter Workout is a preseason conditioning and instructional program to prepare players for the upcoming season, featuring instruction from top area coaches.
