Preps Area Roundup -- Sprecher leads Smithsburg win

THURMONT, Md. -- Katie Sprecher scored a team-high 22 points to help Smithsburg knock off Catoctin 52-45 in an MVAL Antietam matchup.

Marissa Luipersbeck had 11 points, Emily Hargreaves added 10, and Sara Rishell tallied nine rebounds and five blocks for the Leopards (7-1, 3-1).

FREDERICK, Md. -- Brianna Dorsey and Morgan McIntire each collected double-doubles to help lead the Eagles to a win in the Oriole Classic.

McIntire scored 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Dorsey scored 15 points, had 15 steals and collected eight rebounds. Callie Butts had five points and six steals and Jessica Gaylor had five steals for Heritage (7-1).

Travis Barthalow had 15 points and four assists, while Andrew Harrell added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (6-1), who only committed eight turnovers as opposed to 25 for CVCS.

Nick Bunting led the Blazers (7-2) with 14 points, and J.C. Watson grabbed 15 rebounds.
