BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Richard Roger "Rick" Hensley, 48, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Aug. 20, 1960, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Cecil Roger and Martha Catherine Smith Hensley.

He was a graduate of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va.

He worked as a correctional officer at Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was a Methodist.

He was an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Rhonda Sue Kesecker Hensley; one daughter, Aleece M. Hensley at home; one son, Richard R. Hensley Jr. at home; one sister, Teresa Adcock-Stearns of Alexandria; two nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to West Virginia State Police, K-9 Unit, 725 Jefferson Road, South Charleston, WV 25309.
