Siberian Open ends in tie

The first flight of the annual Siberian Open at Beaver Creek Country Club ended in a tie on Thursday, as the two-man teams of Rodger Grimm-Tim Steiner and Pat Pickett-Pat Steiner each finished at 77, beating out the team of Randy Cree-Bud Serig by two shots.

In the second flight, the team of Brandon Hendrickson-Gene Kidd won with an 81 and Ryan Acre-Rod Steiner were second with 85. Dom DiMercurio-Tom Schleigh took the third flight with an 88 and Dixie McNaney-Vicki Grimm were second with 92.

Overall, 42 players were in the Open, which is played with each player selecting three clubs to play the entire round.

Hole-in-one

Kevin Simmers, of Hagerstown, recently recorded his second career hole-in-one when he aced the 169-yard 15th hole with a 7-iron at Carroll Valley Golf Club. He was playing in a fivesome with Dirk Schultz, Mike Butts, Tom Wallech and Dude Martz.
