'My Dog Can Do That' finals held

The Washington County "My Dog Can Do That" 2008 finals were held Dec. 19 at the Peaceable Paws training facility in Fairplay.

Four qualifying dog/owner teams competed in the final round of the yearlong event.

Results are as follows:

Champion - Katie Ervin and her American cocker spaniel, Molly, of Hagerstown, 14 championship points.

Reserve champion - Karin Fellers and her border collie, Kip, of Charles Town, W.Va., 12 points.

Third place - Brian Ervin and his hound mix, Harley, of Hagerstown, 8 points. Harley was adopted from the Humane Society of Washington County.

Fourth place - Lori Kobayashi and her French bulldog, Oscar, of Boonsboro, 4 points.

The proceeds of the yearlong competition, totaling several hundred dollars, were donated to the Humane Society of Washington County.

In 2009, Peaceable Paws will hold a canine games night on the third Friday of each month, offering a variety of competitions, including musical sits, bobbing for hot dogs, tennis ball catch and scavenger hunts.
