CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Paul E. "Butch" High, 57, of 7583 Talhelm Road, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 28, 1951, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Shull P. and Catherine M. Meyers High.

He attended Greencastle, Pa., schools.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He worked at Lynn Chevrolet, in Waynesboro, Pa., as a mechanic, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1191, Waynesboro; Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, Greencastle, Pa., where he was also a member of the 40 & 8 club; Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1758, Waynesboro; and National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie L. Pryor High, whom he married June 25, 1977; one daughter, Michelle High-Daywalt of Mercersburg, Pa.; one son, Edward E. High of Greencastle; four sisters, Ruby Shank, Delores Lapole, Janice Ensminger, and Dorothy Richmond, all of Chambersburg; six grandsons; nieces and nephews.


Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, Waynesboro. Father Barton Berry will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Chapel, P.O. Drawer B, Blue Ridge Summit, PA, 17214.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
