GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Helen C. Carbaugh Hager, 81, of 8912 Kuhn Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 11, 1927, in Montgomery Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Amos R. and Lucretia E. Duncan Carbaugh.

Her husband, O. Eugene Hager, died in 2001. They were married June 5, 1953.

She helped her husband operate the family farm on Hager Road.

She was a member of Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church near Mercersburg, where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and assisted in the nursery.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane M. Rice of Greencastle; one son, Dale E. Hager of Greencastle; one sister, Anna M. Pittman, a resident of ManorCare in Chambersburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg. The Revs. Dennis Ritchey and Raymond Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour before the service on Monday.
