CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Thomas E. Casto, 91, of Leedy Way West, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at his home.

Born in Leon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert William and Goldie Evelyn Henry Casto.

His wife, Grace Casto, died in 2002. They were married Feb. 10, 1940.

He graduated from Bay City Central in 1936.

He was a member of Chambersburg Baptist Church and served on a number of committees. He belonged to the Seekers Sunday school class.

He was a member of Rotary, Kiwanis, and Y's Men's Club in Tacoma, Wash. In Chambersburg, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, acting as chairman for the steering committee and chairman of the board of directors.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda S. Fry of Chambersburg; one son, Robert T. Casto of St. Helens, Ore.; two sisters, Ann Miller and Betty Streu, both of Bay City, Mich.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Casto.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home. Pastor Vernon Edwards will officiate. Entombment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
