MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lyda Jane Crawford, 87, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Westley and Jane Snyder Kitchen.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, James Crawford; and her first husband, Kenneth Dyche.

She retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 30 years of service.

She was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Kitchen of Pennsylvania and Leona Reeder of Boonsboro; three brothers, Bruce Kitchen of Boonsboro, Paul Kitchen of Daytona, Fla., and Raymond Kitchen of Cearfoss; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six sisters, Josephine Golliday, Lucille Kefauver, Amanda Myers, Ann F., and Katie and Lucy Kitchen; two brothers, Leon Charles and Martin Kitchen; and one half brother, George Snyder.


Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Eddie Edmonds will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren, 136 E. Moler Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25404.
