Spring Mills med center opens Monday

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- WVU Hospitals-East officials recently announced plans to open a family medicine practice in northern Berkeley County at Spring Mills.

The Spring Mills Medical Center, scheduled to open Monday, is at 1179 T.J. Jackson Drive next to CNB. It can be accessed off exit 20 of Interstate 81.

The center will be staffed by Dr. Devika Hanumara and Dr. Vineet Sood. Both family medicine physicians are Maryland natives who recently moved to the area after completing their family medicine training.

Hanumara attended medical school in India and completed her internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Mercy Hospital. Sood is a graduate of the University of Maryland and attended medical school in India. Both physicians completed their residency training in family medicine at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, W.Va. They are members of the medical staff at Martinsburg's City Hospital.

The Spring Mills Medical Center will offer a full scope of family medicine services from pediatrics, including well child care and immunizations, to geriatrics and preventive care. The center also will offer lab and EKG services, along with minor medical procedures.Â

"We feel that the Spring Mills area in northern Berkeley County is an excellent location for our new family medicine practice," Sood said in a news release. "Residents in this area will now have the option of staying in their own neighborhood to access primary care health services."

New patient appointments are being scheduled at the Spring Mills Medical Center and most major insurance groups are accepted.
