Ruth Eleanor Stotler, age 83, of National Pike, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at her home.

Born Nov. 18, 1925, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Carrie A. Diehl Divelbliss, and the widow of Junior F. Stotler, who died Jan. 25, 1990.

She had been employed with Pittman's Liquors in Hancock and was formerly employed with Hoffman's Inn and Liquor Store.

She is survived by two sons, Franklin G. Stotler of Hancock and Randy A. Stotler of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary E. Smith of Bedford, Pa., Hazel F. McCusker of Hagerstown and Shirley I. Divelbliss of Hancock; three brothers, Herbert Divelbliss of Crystal Spring, Pa., Joseph M. Divelbliss of Hagerstown and Charles A. Divelbliss of Hancock; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Joyce Sperry.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Dively and Edna Hull; three brothers, Thurman Divelbliss, Curtis Divelbliss and Harold Divelbliss; and three infants.


A service will be held Friday, Jan. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. The Rev. Willis Swope will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, Exline Road, Hancock.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
