James E. Tice, 83

CRESSON, Pa. - James E. Tice, 83, of Country Lane Assisted Living, and formerly of Shade Gap, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Penn Knoll Nursing Home in Everett, Pa.

Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Harrisonville, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Leona Schooley Tice.

His wife, Margaret H. Flood Tice, died in 1999. They were married March 13, 1948.

He was a carpenter and farmer.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He attended Zion United Methodist Church in Waterfall, Pa.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Christiana, Pa., and the Carpenters Union in Philadelphia.

He is survived by two daughters, Naomi R. Foor of Canfield, Ohio, and Francis L. Chelus of Reading, Pa.; one sister, Edna Keebaugh of McConnellsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and close friend, Hilda Mellott of Waterfall, Pa.


He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Pastor Kenneth Grundon will officiate. Burial will be in Siloam United Methodist Cemetery in Harrisonville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
