Motorcyclist clocked at 103 mph on Pa. road

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man on a motorcycle topped the list of those stopped for speeding in excess of 90 mph during December, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Nicholas Lowe, 19, was clocked doing 103 mph on Mont Alto Road, police said. Lowe was on a motorcycle, Trooper Ed Asbury said.

The following people also were stopped for driving more than 90 mph during the month:

o Trevor Davies, 56, of Ontario, 90 mph on Interstate 81

o Jeffery Zeigler, 30, of Shippensburg, Pa., 91 mph on I-81.

o James Harding, 30, of Chambersburg, 91 mph on I-81.

o Stefanie Franzitta, 24, of Staten Island, N.Y., 95 mph on I-81.

Motorcyclist hurt following crash in Pa.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A motorcyclist was flown to a hospital following an accident Saturday afternoon on Spring Valley Road in Guilford Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.


Dennis Logan, 28, of Chambersburg, was riding south at 3:50 p.m. when he lost control on a curve and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Logan, who was wearing a helmet, had head injuries, police said.

Police said Logan was taken to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, but a hospital spokeswoman Monday night said there was no record of him being treated there.

Two men charged with being drunk at game

WILLOW HILL, Pa. - Two men were charged with public drunkenness at a Fannett-Metal High School basketball game last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Daren James Gipe, 21, of Pleasant Hall, Pa., and David William Bock, 24, of Mercersburg, Pa., were charged with being intoxicated at the game Friday night, police said.

Police investigating vandalism incidents

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating half a dozen instances of vandalism that occurred Friday night or Saturday morning on two streets in Guilford Township.

Black spray paint was used to write "69 Bois" on homes and vehicles on Leisure Drive and Palm Springs Drive, police said. The vandalism occurred between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., police said.

Copper wiring and pipe stolen from Pa. home

QUINCY, Pa. - Copper wiring and pipe valued at $700 was stolen last week from a house in the 7700 block of Mentzer Gap Road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The house, belonging to Knouse Fruit Lands of Arendtsville, Pa., was broken into between Dec. 23 and Friday, police said.

Man hurt when he crashes van on Interstate 81

SCOTLAND, Pa. - A Mississippi man was injured Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 81, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Zhang Hui of Madison was driving a 1996 Honda Odyssey south of Exit 20 when it went off the southbound lanes and overturned, police said. He was taken to Chambersburg Hospital with what police described as moderate injuries.

Driver and passenger sought in Pa. crash

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were looking for the driver and a passenger of a vehicle that crashed into the parking lot of Fox's West End on Sunday morning.

Police said a Hyundai was heading east on U.S. 30 at 5:47 p.m. near the Sollenberger Road intersection when it jumped a curb and went into the bar's parking lot. The driver and passenger left the scene, police said.

Money stolen during burglary at Sunnyway

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police were investigating a burglary at Sunnyway Foods discovered Christmas morning.

The Warm Spring Road store was entered through the roof and an office safe was broken into, police said. A significant amount of money was stolen in the burglary, which occurred between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 3 a.m. Thursday, police said.
