WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Robert T. "Bob" Carter, 86, a guest of Quincy (Pa.) Village, and of 206-B Elder Ave., Waynesboro, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at the nursing home.

Born June 2, 1922, in Chase City, Va., he was the son of the late Robert T. Carter Sr. and Elise Lee Morecock Carter.

He attended Oxford (N.C.) High School.

He owned and operated Robert Carter Blacktopping until his retirement on Nov. 2, 1984.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Waynesboro, and was active with various church activities.

He is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Marie E. Webber Carter; one daughter, Rosemarie Fiddy of Roseburg, Ore.; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Chandler and Joyce Taylor.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Waynesboro.
