Brandon Taylor has been hired by The Herald-Mail Co. as a state zone manager in its Circulation Department.

A graduate of Smithsburg High School and York Technical Institute, Taylor has worked in the restaurant and automotive sales fields, as well as serving in an independent contractor, newspaper delivery role for The Herald-Mail.

Also, in the Packaging & Distribution Department, Tammy Steele has been rehired as a part-time inserter. She previously worked for the company from 1999 to June 2008 in a similar capacity. She is a graduate of Seneca (S.C.) High School, and also works for McDonald's.

Business Network International



Candice Wagaman, branch manager for United First Financial, has been named Washington County ambassador for Business Network International (BNI).

BNI is an international business networking organization of business owners and business professionals who affect the growth of each member's business through the concept of "word of mouth marketing."

Washington County has three chapters that meet weekly:

o Tuesday Morning Breakfast Chapter, meets 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Sleep Inn on Sharpsburg Pike

o Thursday Morning Breakfast Chapter, meets 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Always Ron's

o Wednesday Lunch Chapter, meets noon to 1:30 p.m. at Pacific Ocean Buffet on Dual Highway

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Hannah Weikel, an interior designer with Zavos Architecture+Design

LLC, has been certified as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accredited professional.

Weikel has been with the firm since August 2004, and her current projects include a 3,350-square-foot fitout for an endodontics practice in Chambersburg, Pa., and a 5,000-square-foot lakefront house in Gettysburg.

Zavos Architecture+Design has offices at 323 W. Patrick St. in Frederick, Md., and at 22 Chambersburg St., 3rd Floor, in Gettysburg.

Don Bowers Financial Services



GREENCASTLE, Pa.-- Don Bowers, CFS, owner of Don Bowers Financial Services in Greencastle, recently participated in the National Association of Tax Professionals' annual 1040 Tax Workshop at the Holiday Inn in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

The workshop is an annual update and review of tax changes for the upcoming tax season.

Bowers is a certified fund specialist and investment representative with H.D. Vest Investment Services, a nonbank subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co.

Edward Jones



Joan Bowers, an Edward Jones financial adviser in Hagerstown, recently attended Edward Jones' first "Women's Leadership Forum" at the firm's global headquarters in St. Louis.

The forum was held to recognize successful female Edward Jones financial advisers and provided advanced training and networking opportunities and business-building strategies.

Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute



FREDERICK, Md. -- Dr. Mark D. Chilton, president of Mid-Maryland Musculoskeletal Institute (MMI), has given a gift of $2,000 to the Frederick Community College Foundation Inc. to purchase equipment for FCC's athletes and athletic trainer.

Chilton is the team physician for all sports at FCC.

Chilton received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he also completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the Rothman Institute.

BlueRidge Bank



FREDERICK, Md. -- Richard E. McCleary has been named to the board of directors of BlueRidge Bank, a community bank serving Frederick, Washington and Montgomery counties.

McCleary is president of McCleary & Earley Inc., a Hagerstown company that specializes in commercial and residential construction.

McCleary also is a farmer and a partner in several real estate investment groups.

He has served on the boards of American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Hagerstown Housing Authority and Saint James School.

McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond



FREDERICK, Md. -- Three people recently joined the staff of McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond.

o Jessica Gammie has joined the firm as an in-charge accountant.

Gammie has specialized in assisting with consumer and industrial market audit engagements and has audit experience in various industries, including financial services, higher education and employee benefit plans.

Gammie received her bachelor's degree in accounting and completed a minor in business from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md., and recently finished her master's of science in forensic studies with an accounting focus from Stevenson University.

o Genetta Miller has joined the firm as an in-charge accountant.

Miller's most recent position with a local accounting firm focused on performing audits for various industries, including the affordable housing industry, construction and condominium builders and mortgage companies. She has experience consulting with clients on future planning and has trained new preparers.

Miller received her bachelor's degree in accounting and business from Mount St. Mary's University.

o Anca Stradley has joined the firm as a staff accountant.

Stradley brings accounting experience in maintaining billing accounts, refining documentation processes and contract negotiations with suppliers.

Stradley earned her bachelor's degree in economics and is pursuing her MBA in accounting and finance at Hood College in Frederick.
