December 29, 2008

Magdala Pierre and Patrick Perini were named Washington County Technical High School's Outstanding Students of the Month for December.

Magdala Pierre, a senior at Technical High School, is enrolled in the Senior Cosmetology Lab, which requires a student to obtain 1,500 required hours to be fully licensed.

Magdala was a member of Smithsburg Sonix Show Choir, with which she participated in the production of "High School Musical." She also sings and performs in concerts in her church choir.

She is enrolled at Hagerstown Community College, where she is taking Legal Environment of Business.

She won second place in the local competition, and now is going to regionals. She holds two jobs while attending Cosmetology full time, Evening High School, and Hagerstown Community College.

She hopes to attend Penn State University in fall 2009, and hopes to major in business and own her own salon one day.

Patrick Perini, a senior, is enrolled in Cisco Academy, taking Computer Repair & Networking, Advanced Placement English Literature, Honors Pre-Calculus, Physical Education & Weight Training, and one period of being an aide for the junior class in the Cisco Academy.

He is involved in many extracurricular activities, including Green Club, Drama Club, Quiz Bowl and Strategy Game Club.

Outside of school, he edits Web sites and builds computers and networks.

In the fall of 2009, Patrick expects to attend the University of Pittsburgh's School of Arts and Sciences, where he intends to major in computer science and programming.

Students of the Month receive a number of gifts.
