Housing Authority helps Salvation Army

December 28, 2008

Employees of the Housing Authority of Washington County gathered around the Christmas tree recently as they presented Maj. Robert Lyle of The Salvation Army with a facsimile check representing the $564 they collected during the past year.

Each Friday, Authority employees are allowed to dress down in exchange for a donation to the Casual Day fund. This year, the staff voted unanimously to send the proceeds to The Salvation Army to fill Christmas stockings.

Employees present for the presentation were Stephen O'Brien, Tyenna Hart, Pam Schnebly, Vicki Corbiser, Marlene Groesbeck, Tina McCall and Kimberly Shipley.

The Washington County Housing Authority manages 292 rental units. The Authority also administers the Section 8 program that provides rental assistance to 500 families within the county but outside the City of Hagerstown.
