FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Dale C. Huff, 72, of 5334 Spruce Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Sept. 5, 1936, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of Ida E. Naugle Carbaugh Smith of South Mountain, Pa.; and the late Lincoln E. Carbaugh.

He attended Quincy High School and received his G.E.D. while in the military.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed by Ameri-can James River Dixie Northern in Chambersburg, first as a trafficking coordinator and then as a supply room manager. He retired in 1995.

He was a member of South Mountain Bible Church.

His memberships included South Mountain Fish and Game Association; South Mountain Volunteer Fire Co.; William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post 695 in Waynesboro; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro; and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1758 in Waynesboro.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Donna M. Sharrah Huff, whom he married July 1, 1977; five children, Richard A. Huff of Shippensburg, Pa., Sandy A. Powell of South Mountain, Pa., Crystal K. Huff of Greencastle, Pa., Laurie Shaffer of Florida, and Sharon Etter of North Carolina; two brothers, Lane E. Carbaugh and Donald E. Carbaugh, both of South Mountain; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Donald E. Carbaugh will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.
