Hagerstown High Class of '53 reunites

December 26, 2008

The Hagerstown High School class of 1953 held its 55th reunion Oct. 25 at Beaver Creek Country Club.

A total of 119 members and guests attended. Co-chairs Barbara Snyder Stouffer and Doug Stine welcomed the group. Jane Davies Blankenship gave the invocation, followed by a silent prayer for the deceased members of the class.

The dinner included crab cakes, filet mignon, chicken and all the trimmings. A choice of gourmet desserts was offered.

Sidney Bowman, class president, served as master of ceremonies. He spoke of the fun times the class members had in their high school years. It was interesting to hear about the many changes that have taken place over the past 55 years.

Bowman recognized the reunion committee for all its work over the years to make the reunions a success. The committee includes Stouffer, Stine, Blankenship (recording secretary and treasurer), corresponding secretary Carolyn Lohr Kline, David Ambrose, Louise Britner Luther, Robert McCleaf, Pauletta Kline Deiterich and Nancy Smith Trumpower.

M.F. Kershner, who lives in Florida, and JoAnn Chaney Swope of Ohio helped keep an updated address list.

Clyde Roberts, art teacher, was greeted as the attending faculty member.
