MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Charles L. Ambrose, 88, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at his home.

Born July 8, 1920, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles W. and Grace Donivan Ambrose.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Coffinbargar Ambrose.

He was owner and operator of Metropolitan Interiors.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving with the 319 Squadron.

He is survived by two daughters, Wanda M. Ambrose and Mary C. Linton, both of Martinsburg; two sons, Charles W. Ambrose of Martinsburg, and Earl D. Ambrose of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one brother, John W. Ambrose of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda K. Ambrose; and one brother, Donald E. Ambrose.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg. Pastor James Schuelke will officiate. Military graveside services will be held in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funerla home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.
