GARDNERS, Pa. -- Vera L. Hartman, 72, of 1194 Myerstown Road, and formerly of 188 Warmspring Road in Chambersburg, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at her home.

Born Jan. 8, 1936, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Aaron W. and Mary Barlup Hartman.

She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Brown's Mill District, in Greencastle, Pa.

She is survived by her niece, Ruby Rupp, with whom she lived; two sisters, Pearl V. Wagaman of Quincy (Pa.) United Methodist Home and Naomi M. Carr of Greencastle; one brother, Richard A. Hartman of Greencastle; 32 nieces and nephews; and great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret N. Hartman and Ruth A. Sharer; six brothers, Glenn E. Hartman, Galen M. Hartman, Edgar C. Hartman Sr., Casper E. Hartman, Ralph W. Hartman and Carroll K. Hartman; and eight nieces and nephews.


Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Brown's Mill District, Greencastle. The Home Brethren will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
