Springfield staff helps Humane Society

December 24, 2008

Springfield Middle School staff members Ann Methana, Courtney Plume and Julie Van Metre got into the spirit of the Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign and filled a giant stocking to capacity. An additional bag had to be used for extra goodies they collected.

When asked what motivated them to participate in the adoption effort, Methana looked at Plume and VanMetre and said, "We are probably three of the biggest animal lovers in the school."

All of the women spoke of their love for their own pets. Methana has two golden retrievers, Spencer and Lucy, and a sheltie named Gracie. Plume has a golden retriever named Gunner and VanMetre has a mixed-breed dog that she adopted from a rescue effort for animal victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Anyone interested in participating in the Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign can contact Katherine Cooker at 301-733-2060, ext. 237. Visit the Humane Society of Washington County from 10 a.m. until closing Monday through Saturday. Directions and additional information is available at www.hswcmd.org.
