Preps Area Roundup -- Jefferson stops Parkersburg

BOYS BASKETBALL

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- Jefferson went into a full-court press and scored off three straight turnovers to rally from a seven-point deficit with 90 seconds remaining to score a 74-71 victory over Parkersburg and make the most of Tuesday's six-hour bus trip.

Garrett Grantham led the Cougars (2-0) with 19 points and also had six assists and five steals. Dewey McDonald scored 18 points and added five rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Center Nick Zbikowski scored only four points but he pulled down nine rebounds and blocked seven shots.

INWOOD, W.Va. -- Musselman won its fourth straight game, exploding to a 42-15 lead by halftime.

Logan Holloman led the Applemen (4-0) with 17 points, Morgan McDonald added 13 and Jonathan Alvarez had a hand in many of Musselman's 26 field goals with 11 assists.

Ryan Redick led Berkeley Springs with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Garrett Sanders had 15 points and eight rebounds, and Caleb Hussack scored eight of his 12 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Trojans ahead of Steel-High in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth contest.

Ryan Borzager had 12 points and four assists, and Rashon Bailey added 10 points for Chambersburg (3-3, 2-3).

Ryan Hill made five 3-pointers and scored 24 points for Steel-High (2-3, 2-2), the defending PIAA Class AAA state champions.

CLEAR SPRING -- Berkeley Springs overwhelmed the Blazers from the opening tip and poured it on in the middle two periods for the victory.

Leading 16-11 after the first quarter, Berkeley Springs (4-2) outscored Clear Spring (0-4) over the middle quarters, 46-13.

Deidra Burch led the Indians with 20 points, Amber Booher had 15 and Lesley Yost added 13.

Lindsay Trumpower led Clear Spring with nine points.
