Menno Haven presents Christmas pageant

December 24, 2008

Remembering the reason for the season, last week, residents at Menno Haven Menno Village Nursing Center donned robes and became members of a live nativity as part of their annual Christmas pageant. Featuring a full cast of characters, residents played the roles of Mary (MaryLou Beals) and Joseph (Emanuel Klawansky), wise men (Ronald Rowles, Paul Frey, George Myers), angels (Helen Rindle, Johanna Weaver) and shepherds (Peggy Mohr, Rena Heckman).

Menno Haven's Life Enrichment staff members worked with volunteers SueAnn Sarvis and Anna Shank to create costumes for the nativity. The Menno Village Bell Ringers, comprised of senior residents under the direction of Life Enrichment staff member Carol Garling, presented their rendition of "Silent Night." A quartet comprised of chaplains Ray Geigley, Bob Keener, and Vernon Isner and Menno Haven President and CEO Rod Mason sang two  songs, followed by guitarist Tresa Paul playing "Mary Did You Know?"

"It brings tears to our eyes to see the people in the nursing center not just watching programs, but being in programs and playing the bells," noted one family member. "We never thought they could do much now that they are in a nursing center."
