Rockland Woods helps homeless animals

December 24, 2008

Under the direction of Lisa Terch, Rockland Woods Elementary School students and teachers recently collected a variety of items to help the Humane Society of Washington County's Home 4 the Holidays adoption campaign.

On Dec. 16, Terch, accompanied by fellow teacher Mrs. Barnhart and student representatives from Mrs. Rouse's fourth-grade homeroom, donated the items to the shelter.

"We were all very excited to help," Terch said.

Photographs of the students can be viewed on the shelter's Web site at www.hswcmd.org. Click on Home 4 the Holidays and Photo Gallery.

Donated items will be placed into the stockings of newly adopted pets. Some of the items will also be distributed to the pets still waiting to be adopted this holiday, making it a special time for all the pets. Anyone interested in participating in the adoption campaign, can call Katherine Cooker at 301-733-2060, ext. 237. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until closing.
