Shepherd excels at forensics tourney

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University won 16 awards and second place sweepstakes in the Collegiate Forensics Association (CFA) holiday tournament on Dec. 5 and 6 in Ashland, Va.

Shepherd also won 28 awards, the first place in the Sweepstakes Team award, and the Strine-Welsh Traveling Trophy for the best yearlong record.

Brittany Young of Inwood, W.Va., won seven awards: first place in the pentathlon, first place in the extemporaneous speaking, second place in persuasive speaking, first place in impromptu speaking, first place in Lincoln-Douglas debate, second place in communication analysis and second place in dramatic duo.

Nicholas DiBartolomeo of Martinsburg, W.Va., won six awards: second place in the pentathlon, second place in the extemporaneous speaking, first place in persuasive speaking, first place in single dramatic interpretation, third place in communication analysis, and second place in dramatic duo.

Jess Leasure of Middletown, Md., won two awards: fifth place in rose and fifth place in dramatic duo.

Edward Rhodes of Martinsburg won two awards: sixth place in the informative and fifth place in dramatic duo.
