December 23, 2008

SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A 22-year-old pedestrian was struck and injured by one of two vehicles involved in an accident Monday morning on Orrstown Road (Pa. 533), according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

Kristopher A. Milburn of High Street, Shippensburg, was flown by Lifeline helicopter to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of what police described as moderate injuries, the release said.

According to police, Donna F. Johnson, 49, of East Burd Street, Shippensburg, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer eastbound on Pa. 533 at about 7:08 a.m. when she slowed to make a left turn.

Wanda J. Stouffer, 47, of Cardinal Drive, Orrstown, Pa., was driving two vehicles behind Johnson in a 2002 Ford Windstar, police said. As the vehicles in front of her slowed, she attempted to pass both vehicles on the left. Her vehicle crossed the center line and stuck the Explorer as it made the left turn, police said.

The Windstar then went off the north berm of the road and struck Milburn, who was walking east, police said. The Windstar continued east for another 128 feet before coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Neither driver was injured, according to the release.

A passenger in the Explorer, Byron K. Nye, 22, of East Burd Street, Shippensburg, was taken by ambulance to Chambersburg Hospital for treatment of what police described as moderate injuries.
