Gregory Duff Bacon, 56, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at his residence.

Born Nov. 2, 1952, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Margaret (Kerin) and A. Maynard Bacon Jr.

He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

He graduated with an associate arts degree from Hagerstown Community College.

He had many diverse interests. He enjoyed volunteering at Potomac Playmakers as a thespian. He was a numismatist, which was a lifelong hobby. He thoroughly enjoyed the history of the Civil War and participated in re-enactments. He was an ardent supporter of the Wildlife Foundation and Greenpeace, as well as state and local police and emergency services.

Greg is survived by three brothers, A. Maynard Bacon III and wife, Jane, of Lancaster, Pa., Dr. Allan T. Bacon II and wife, Barbara, of Hagerstown, and Bruce J.H. Bacon and wife, Mi-Ok, also of Hagerstown; three nephews, Art, Tom and Allan Bacon; and two nieces, Jessica and Brenna Bacon.


Family and friends will be received Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, where a memorial service will be held by Deacon William Nairn at 7 p.m.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
