GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Frank B. Kesselring, 82, of 452 E. Madison St., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Aug. 10, 1926, in Zullinger, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank and Vada Gardner Kesselring.

He was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He worked as a meat cutter for three local supermarkets.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Calvary Bible Church of Greencastle, where he served as a deacon and a member of the missions committee.

He was a member of The Gideons International, and Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 and Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319, both of Greencastle.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances L. Krone Kesselring; two daughters, Linda J. Kesselring of Catonsville, Md., and Diane K. Haugh of Greencastle; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma Kephart; three brothers, George Kesselring, Dorsey Kesselring and Jason Kesselring; and by the Rev. C.A. and Ada Hoover, who raised him at the former Milton Wright Home in Kauffman Station, Pa.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Bible Church, Greencastle. The Revs. Glen Miller and Wilbur Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Browns Mill Cemetery, Kauffman, Pa.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. The Greencastle VFW will hold a memorial service today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to missions work of Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA 17225; or to Four States Christian Mission, P.O. Box 685, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
