Martha Zelda Clever, 82, formerly of Chestnut Street, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Homewood at Williamsport.

Born Feb. 5, 1926, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Victor Charles Ditto Sr. and Effa Virginia Kendall Ditto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Elwood Clever, on April 9, 1990.

She was a graduate of Williamsport High School.

She was employed by The Herald-Mail Co. for more than 25 years.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

She was a member of The Herald-Mail 25-Year Club, and was involved in many activities with the church and in the community.


She is survived by three daughters, Carol C. Porciuncula and Shirley C. Harris, both of Hagerstown, and Linda S. Roberson of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; one son, Ronald E. Clever of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothea Annabelle Pearman; four brothers, Hauer Ditto, Samuel G. Ditto, John C. Ditto and Victor C. Ditto Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Randall S. Reid will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
