SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -- Jefferson opened the Apple Valley League portion of its schedule with a 65-29 victory over St. Maria Goretti on Saturday.

Dakeea Marshall and Melissa Taylor led Jefferson (4-0, 1-0) with 16 points apiece, while Dezi Clinton added 12.

Annie Nevarez led Goretti (3-5, 0-2) with 13 points and Cassie Rzomp added 10.

Jenn Dillon had 12 points and three assists and Katie Scanlon added 11 points for the Blue Storm (3-3), while Shaniqua Reeves and Kate Vary each had seven rebounds.

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. -- Stephon Berry had 15 points and nine rebounds for St. Maria Goretti, which fell to West Mifflin in the consolation game of the Hollidaysburg Tournament.

Nic Martin scored 19 points for the Gaels (3-8), while Brendan Engle added five rebounds.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Martinsburg held a one-point lead but unbeaten Charlotte (N.C.) Christian (10-0) outscored the Bulldogs 27-13 in the final period in the Oceanfront Resort Holiday Classic.

Isaac Thornton posted a game-high 27 points for Martinsburg, which will play Easley (S.C.) in today's third-place game at 2 p.m.

Michael Cole had 10 points and seven rebounds for Martinsburg.

Academy of New Church 55, Mercersburg Academy 30

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Mercersburg Academy stayed with Academy of New Church through the first period before a terrible second quarter doomed the Blue Storm.

New Church outscored Mercersburg (2-5) 12-1 in the second quarter to take a 30-13 halftime lead.

Taylor Dunn was the lone Blue Storm player in double figures with 10 points.
