FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Austin P. Sachs, 94, of 11302 South Mountain Road and formerly of 1822 Highland Terrace, Waynesboro, Pa., died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Manorcare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Feb. 11, 1914, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Iva Elizabeth Smith Sachs.

He was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School.

From 1969 until his retirement in 1981, he worked as a machinist for Teledyne Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Wayne Heights (Pa.) Brethren Church, where he was the Sunday school superintendent, served on the Board of Trustees and as a deacon. He also attended Rouzerville (Pa.) United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics in Marion, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth G. "Mickey" Null Sachs, a resident of Michaux Manor, whom he married Feb. 1, 1936; two daughters, Judith S. Stevens of Waynesboro and Patricia S. Gilkerson of Gettysburg, Pa.; two sons, Terry L. Sachs of Ellicott City, Md., and Brian L. Sachs of Tioga, Fla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Winona Hardy.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
