KEEDYSVILLE - Evelyn Jane Alger, 87, of Keedysville, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.

Born Nov. 25, 1921, in Inwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John Hesbia Foster and Beatrice Snapp Foster.

Her husband, Sullivan Alger Sr., preceded her in death.

She retired from the A&P store in Glen Burnie, Md.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Clipp and Linda Hynen, both of Keedysville; three sons, Sullivan Alger Jr. of Augusta, W.Va., and John M. Alger and Clarke E. Alger, both of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Meta Foster of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 22 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sylvia J. Alger and Anna L. Coffman; one sister, Iva L. Johnson; two brothers, Clyde W. Foster and Hesbia C. Foster; one grandson; and one great-grandson.


Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home in Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Sharon Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, W.Va.

Visitation will be two hours before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village, 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
