MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Philip B. Holcomb, 83, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Cabri, Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late Bruce G. Holcomb and Dorothy I. Dunne Holcomb.

He was a retired independent owner/operator over-the-road truck driver for more than 50 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Josephine Poulos Holcomb; two sons, Philip of Brick, N.J., and Edward of Mount Wolf, Pa.; one brother, David Holcomb of California; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Ek and Gwen Hansen.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.
