WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jerry M. "Jake" Niedentohl, 73, of 101 Middle Street, Waynesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born July 11, 1935, in Waynesboro, Va., he was the son of the late William Piper Sr. and Anna Mae Niedentohl.

He graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School, Waynesboro, Pa. with the class of 1955.

He worked in the shipping department at HMW Enterprises, Waynesboro, Pa.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro.

He was a member of Order of the Owls Nest 1073 of Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife of more than 49 years, Barbara Ann Ringer Niedentohl; one daughter, Linda S. Reddig of Shippensburg, Pa.; one son, Jeffrey M. Niedentohl of Waynesboro; three sisters, Ruby V. Allamong, Eleanor L. Snead and Pauline R. Broyles, all of Waynesboro, Va.; one brother, Lee W. Niedentohl of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Olive L. Stine; and two brothers, William P. Niedentohl Jr. and Merle E. Niedentohl.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro. Father Dennis G. Dalessandro and the Rev. David G. Rawley will officiate. Burial will be at St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro, with military graveside services conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599 of Chambersburg, Pa.

There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268 or St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
