Washington County's Division of Fire and Emergency Services has been awarded a $405,990 grant from the state's Homeland Security grant program, division director Kevin Lewis said.

The grant includes a $500 Citizen Corps "mini-grant," according to Lewis.

The rest of the money will be allocated as follows:

o $102,000 for the Law Enforcement Terrorism Protection Program, including communications equipment and personal protective equipment.

o $68,500 for planning, which will go toward a planner's salary and miscellaneous equipment.

The Washington County Commissioners gave approval Tuesday to accept the grant.
