Seasons greetings

Hello to all ... hoping that the season finds you well. With all the hustle and bustle of gifts, cooking and visiting friends and family, I hope that you find time to enjoy the lights and the cheer of the season.

New Year's Eve bingo

Western Enterprise Fire Co. will host a New Year's Eve bingo event.

Doors open at 5 p.m. at the fire hall on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Tickets can be purchased before 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 for $45; after 3 p.m. and at the door, tickets will cost $50.

Admission includes a meal of roast beef, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, vegetable and a drink. Hot dogs and sauerkraut will be served closer to midnight in celebration of the new year.

Course offered

The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross, at 1131 Conrad Court Hagerstown, will hold a baby sitter boot camp Dec. 29 to 31 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost of the three-day camp is $100. Financial aid is available.

Participants are asked to register in advance as space is limited. Bring a bag lunch.

The purpose of the camp is to provide individuals, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play. The student's will also learn child and infant CPR along with standard first aid.

The students will also receive a baby sitters training handbook, a baby sitters training emergency reference guide, a baby sitters training CD-ROM and a baby sitters backpack.
