JoAnn Marie Powell Kreit, 48, of 22 N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown, died Dec. 12, 2008, at her home due to a 7 1/2-year battle with a brain tumor (cancer).

Born Jan 11, 1960, in New Brighton, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Daughter of Geraldine A. Bussard of Hagerstown and the late James R. Powell, Hagerstown.

She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church of Hagerstown.

She graduated from Williamsport High School, class of 1978.

She was a licensed day care provider for 19 years.

She was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club at Barefoot Bernies.

Her hobbies were painting and crafts, bowling, summers by the pool or beach and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. She took a lot of pride in her home with flowers and fish ponds.

She will be sadly missed by her mother Jerrie, stepfather Perry Bussard, two daughters and one son. Daughter, Trisha Morris, husband Thomas Morris, grandchildren ShiAnn, Dawsen and Kolemen Morris of Salt Springs, Fla. Son Justin Shupp of Hagerstown, daughter, SeAirra Shupp at home. Two sisters, Jennifer Hykes of Hagerstown and Judith Nalley, husband Gary Nalley Jr. of Boonsboro. Two brothers, Jay Powell of West Virginia and Jon-Patrick, wife Angela Powell of Big Cove Tannery, Pa. Stepsister, Elizabeth Bussard Moats, deceased. Six nieces and four nephews, Joshua Hykes, Benjamin Hykes, Rebekah Hykes Bennett, Jerid Nalley, Bret Nalley, Amber Nalley, Natasha Powell, Catherine Powell Downey, Danielle Powell Downey and Amy Shelton; aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. and a fellowship meal to follow. At the Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, 17426 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown.

Pastor Aaron Miller will officiate the memorial service.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Contributions may be made to Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.
