JEFFERSON, Md. - Thelma Virginia Turner Maught, 84, of Jefferson, died Monday Dec. 15, 2008, at the home of her son in Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles John Andrew "Jack" Maught, who died Oct. 12, 1984.

Born Dec. 26, 1923, in Rohrersville, she was a daughter of the late Charles Turner and Lovetta Poffenberger Turner Miller.

She was a homemaker.

She helped at her church, the Jefferson Community Center, the Ruritan Club and the fire company.

She is survived by one son, Charles Maught of Jefferson; one brother, Robert Miller of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Matthew Maught and Danielle Maught; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Miller; two brothers, Harold Miller and Marvin Miller; and one grandson.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson. The Rev. Katrina Holland will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery.


The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown. There will also be a viewing one hour before the church service Friday.
