CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Shippensburg, Pa., woman charged with having sex with a 12-year-old boy waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court.
Jeanine Melissa Owens, 29, of 85 Lenwood Park, Southampton Township, was charged by Pennsylvania State Police with felony charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, along with misdemeanor counts of corruption of a minor and indecent assault, according to court records.
Police said the boy was interviewed earlier this month and told them that he had begun sending text messages to Owens during the summer after getting her cell phone number from a relative. They later began seeing each other and started a sexual relationship that lasted through November, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The sexual activity between the boy and Owens took place at her home, police said.
Police also saw some text messages between the boy and Owens from earlier on the same day he was interviewed, according to the affidavit.
