CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Anna Marie Wathen, 79, of Charles Town, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Dec. 20, 1928, in Ungers Store, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Claude William Funkhouser and Mary K. Davis Funkhouser.

She was a sales clerk with Bon-Ton in Frederick, Md.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda S. Tressler of Virginia Beach, Va.; four sons, J. Gwyn Wathen Jr. of Charles Town, George A. Wathen of Littleton, Colo., Charles W. Wathen of Boonsboro and Thomas M. Wathen of Foxville, Md.; one sister, Betty Richards of Oldtown, Md.; one brother, Charles A. Funkhouser of Gold Beach, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, William C. Funkhouser.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town. The Rev. Fr. Brian Owens will be celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, Va.

The family will receive friends at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, W.Va., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
