Herman Oscar Bishop, 83, of 1619 Dual Highway, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at the Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.

Born Thursday, Aug. 20, 1925, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Frank E. Bishop Sr. and the late Naomi V.

Wachter Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Brubaker Bishop.

He was a 1944 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was employed with Victor Products, Hennesy Products, retiring in 1987 and later was employed with ARC of Washington County. He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a former member of N.R.A, Williamsport American Legion, Pegasus R/C Flying Club and the Beaver Creek Country Club.


He is survived by his brother, Frank E. Bishop Jr. of Hagerstown; a niece, Yvonne Carbaugh of Hagerstown; two nephews, Frank E. Bishop III of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Michael D. Bishop of Santa Fe, N.M.; and several great nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with Pastor Richard Daughtridge officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western Maryland, 5 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
