Edgar Allen Peck, 96, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Hagerstown.

Born March 3, 1912, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Martin Luther and Mary Elizabeth Effland Peck.

He retired from Western Maryland Railroad.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown.

He was a member of James W. Bowers 173 A.F & A.M., Hancock.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Cain Peck; two stepdaughters, Laura Stiener of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Dolly M. Trumpower of Hagerstown; three stepsons, Chester E. Shives of Greensboro, N.C., Orien K. Shives of Hagerstown and Millard L. Shives of Atlanta; stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.


He was preceded in death by four sisters, Hilda Divel, Gladys Myers, Beulah Hoffman and Pauline Brooke, and one brother, George W. Peck.

Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Catalpa United Methodist Cemetery in Hancock. There will be military services provided by Tri-State Honor Guard and a service by the James W. Bowers 173 A.F.&A.M.
