Jefferson High SNHS helps families

December 15, 2008

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Students from the Spanish Honor Society at Jefferson High School recently delivered wrapped presents for children of a family that is being helped by Friends in Action of the Eastern Panhandle.

Maria Howar, coordinator, and her students have been giving of their time and talents to Friends in Action throughout the past year, providing Spanish lessons to the children and child care during monthly Life Skills training sessions. They also provided a meal for all of the families who attend Life Skills training.

But it was a generous act when they decided to use their own funds to provide each of the five children in the family with several presents for Christmas.

The students shopped, wrapped and delivered the gifts, which were then delivered to the family by Teresa Warnick, program director for Friends in Action. Friends in Action would like to thank Maria and her students for the kind act..
