Fire damages Clear Spring home

December 15, 2008

CLEAR SPRING - Fire raced through a one-story house at 13331 Independence Road Sunday afternoon and fire crews were on the scene for more than three hours, Washington County fire and emergency dispatch officials said.

More than 50 firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene after the fire was reported at 5:30 p.m., a 911 dispatcher said.

Officials were still trying to determine the cause of the fire Sunday night, the dispatcher said.

Two adults and a youth lived in the house and they had another place to stay, although the Washington County chapter of the Red Cross provided them with food and clothing, said Mike Mowen, director of emergency services for the local Red Cross.
