Virginia Lee Kinsey, 90, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Homewood Retirement Center. Born April 12, 1918, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Jennie Small Couchman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Kinsey, in 1969.

She retired from Woolworths in 1978. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was the secretary and treasurer of the Sunday school. She was a member of the West Virginia Society and AARP. She was a member of the Homemakers. She started the Community Store at Homewood and was the longest resident of the Homewood Community. She was a candy maker and a baker.

She is survived by a son, Tom Kinsey of California, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Matt Kinsey and wife, Michelle, of Huntington, W.Va. and Ginny Kinsey of Alexandria, Va.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Stahl and Sarah Knite; and four brothers, Ralph Couchman, Harmon Couchman, Glen Couchman and John Couchman.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Robert E. McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 108 N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
