John Franklin (Johnny) Wyand, 61

John Franklin (Johnny) Wyand, 61, of 420 Ridge Ave., Hagerstown, went peacefully home to be with God while comforted in the arms of his surviving spouse, Linda and with his daughters, their husbands and his family. He died at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, after a month long battle with an illness.

Born Feb. 20, 1947, in Hagerstown, he was one of five children. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Carroll (Red) Wyand and is survived by his mother, Edith Dorothy Wilson Wyand, of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Linda and three daughters, Wendy Sue Morrow of Hagerstown, her husband Mark and children, Brandon, Cody and Destinee; daughter, Misty Dawn Lewis of Williamsport and her husband Darin and children, Brynn and Keara; and daughter, Shavonne Marie Wyand of Hagerstown; two sisters, Gloria Schlotterbeck and Dorie Webb, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, George Wyand of Hagerstown and Randy Wyand of Greencastle, Pa.

He attended Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center on York Road with his wife.

He was a member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club. John served in the U.S. Army Engineer Corps and was a Vietnam veteran and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked in the aircraft industry for more than 25 years, first at Fairchild and then Rohr Industries until they closed. He then worked at Tiger Aircraft and subsequently Sino Swearingen in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center at 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, with Pastor Robert C. Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown.
