MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Kenneth Eugene Knipe, 75, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at his home.

Born Sept. 21, 1933, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Knipe Sr. and Jennie Eversole Knipe.

He was employed by the Berkeley County School Board for 10 years.

He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1952, and graduated in 1960 from Shepherd College with a bachelor of science in chemistry.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Bedington Ruritan Club and served as president.

He was a member of Bedington United Methodist Church, where he served as chairperson on the administrative board and pastor parish relations committee.


He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma Jean Gantt Knipe; one daughter, Sonia A. Cloud; one sister, Virginia A. Rockwell of Martinsburg; two stepgrandsons; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Freda Mae Barney; and three brothers, George A. Knipe, Charles E. Knipe Jr. and James B. Knipe.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Revs. Robert Barnes and Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
