WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Waynesboro police this week were made aware of a scam in which a man posed as a fundraiser for the Franklin County (Pa.) Sheriff's Office.

The white man reportedly visited The Beer Shed on Walnut Street on Tuesday morning.

The man, who was carrying a briefcase and was about 50 years old, claimed to be hired by the sheriff's office to raise money for a school safety program, according to Waynesboro Police Chief Mark King.

He was described as approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall and 200 pounds. The man had short brown hair and was wearing khakis, a brown suede jacket and glasses. He left on foot.
